Will there be “conference hotel rates” offered in Richmond at any particular hotels?

All local hotels have submitted their best rates looking forward to gaining the ABANA conference business. These rates as well as the hotel reservation desk phone numbers have been posted on the ABANA website under the link “resources” in the conference pages / section. All the hotels are an average of 1-3 miles from the EKU campus, but be sure to inquire about the distance if it is important to you.

I have been asked about the room setups in the dorms?

The dorms come equipped with a small dorm fridge, a cable tv hook-up (no tv though), a phone/internet hook-up (no phone though), 2 twin extra-long beds (no sheets, blankets, or pillows though). Dont forget to mention to those concerned regarding sheets towels pillows that we are offering a $35.00 package including all. It is described on the registration brochure and has a place to check it off on the registration form. Otherwise people must bring their own.

How many to a room?

2 people as there are 2 beds, though we are allowing families to bring sleeping bags so the youngins can sleep on floor...so I guess if more than 2 adults want to squeeze in to a dorm room, they can? I doubt that will arise.

What's the best dorm?

Palmer is the bldg opening early and closing late. It is the smaller bldg. It is wheelchair friendly only so far as it has no front steps. It is non-smoking. Commonwealth will be open 7th-11th and will allow for smokers amongst the top floors. (Most registrants are requesting non-smoking).The bldgs are right next to each other on campus.

Can we book a few rooms in proximity to friends?

We are taking "room requests". Registrants must note on their registration if they wish to be on same floor as another couple or friends. We are also taking roommate requests...registrants must list the desired roommate's name on their reg form. Or if a single person wishes a certain "kind" of roommate, list that too (ie; a 22 yr old guy asked me not to room him with a 70 yr old guy). We are passing all info to the EKU housing staff...they will be responsible for assigning rooms, so all I can say is that the requests will be filled to the greatest degree possible without guarantee. Also note...there is only one bathroom / shower facility per floor in each dorm. So we will be designating a "men’s floor" and a "women’s floor". (no towels available) I have gotten some requests from wives for room assignment that the room be on the same floor as the women’s bathroom.
