ABANA Affiliate Liaison Letter November 2002

As I was recently reading some of the ABANA affiliate newsletters again the idea came to me that I was reading some things that should be shared with all the affiliates. Here are some ideas that you may be able to use.

California Blacksmith, Sept/Oct 2002, California Blacksmith Association. The treasurer reported a three month receipt and disbursement statement. It took only less than one page. This is a good way to keep the members informed.

Tuere, Sept/Oct, 2002, The Illinois Valley Blacksmith Association. This issue printed he names of persons who joined their association during the past few months. It's always a good idea to make new members feel welcome.

Fire and Iron, Fall 2002, Northeast Blacksmiths Association. Jonathan Nedbor reported to the membership that they are making progress in incorporating their association. The message here is--incorporate. Most affiliates are incorporated-if you are not, start soon.

Clinker Breaker, July, 2002. This issue printed the requirements for the new Boy Scout Metalwork Merit Badge. Good for you! Let's encourage youngsters to find the joy of blacksmithing by volunteering to be a Metalwork Merit Badge counselor.

The Anvil's Horn, Arizona Artist Blacksmith Association. Something happened between the May, 2002 and July 2002 issue. The paper is harder and has more of a shine. This made for sharper text and snappier photos. Something that you may want to think about doing.

NRBA Blacksmith News, Spring 2002, Northern Rockies Blacksmith Association. ABANA's Safety Statement is reproduced in its entirety. We need to stress safety. This statement is on ABANA's web site (www.abana.org/affiliates/affiliates.html) and was sent to all affiliates.
